D-Link DWL-G630 loses access point -- ndiswrapper 0.12, Fedora Core 3

Well, after a few hours of configuring installing compiling and whatnot, I've found that my wireless card (DWL-G630) loses the signal to my router (D-Link DI-524), even when it's right next to it, after about 20 seconds and doesn't regain it. The connection is not lost, however, when I get on the ole command line and ping the router into eternity. I jumped on ethereal and I get broadcasts from the router but for some reason, the card does not re-acquire the connection. The only other way is if you hop over to the Network Device Control GUI and constantly activate the interface. It works if I constantly ping the router, but I guess I'm looking for style points...has this happened to anyone else? If you would like to see a tcpdump of the whole firedrill, I will post. Thank you.

Now that I remember...

... When I had XP installed (boooooo), the card would constantly lose the connection to the router as well (you know, the bubble would pop us saying there was no connection) and then regain it after a few seconds. The problem may be the windows driver. BTW, its an Atheros chipset.
