I had ubuntu on my system and the wireless card worked swell:
Realtek RTL8191SEvB wireless LAN.
I decided to switch to Debian but the wireless card does not work at all. I did some checking and found that it is not supported under debian. I even tried ndiswrapper - waste of time.
Now I am wondering, could I simply find the ubuntu source code and then blend it into my system? What would i need to look for to do this?

Well its the stable debian squeeze kernel, but I don't want the ubuntu kernel as it was not very stable on my machine. I got freezes different x resolutions on startup and decided to switch to deb for this reason. While it is not as flashy out of the box it has always been rock solid. If only I knew a bit more I would like to incorporate the ubuntu wifi modules and no more! I know its possible but clueless where to start!

Compiling an Ubuntu kernel on Debian will produce quite a different animal than an Ubuntu kernel on Ubuntu.
I am just trying to suggest the easiest method to get your wireless to work.
If it is not stable enough for you, what have you lost? One hour?
