connecting to the internet using speedtouch 576 wireless modem.

using xandros desktop version 3, but cannot connect to the internet.
i'm using a speedtouch 576 wireless modem connected to my ethernet card, with an aol adsl line which i use on windows on my other partition.
i'm totally new to linux, so any help, however simple, would be great.
someone told me it has got something to do with ETH0, which should be ETH1, but i have no idea how to change this.

This is an external wireless modem, plugged into your ethernet card?

I guess we want to see ifconfig output.
