connect 2 linux boxes together without a router via wireless.
Hey there, I have a debian server running under my bed on one side of the house, and a ubuntu desktop running on the other side of the bed. Is there a fast way to access it directly, without the router?(which I have suspect is slowing down the speed of transferring files dramatically.)
I have a lot of large files I want to transfer (mostly music and videos). I cannot use Ethernet because the server's Ethernet port was burned out after a surge on the bell line on my telephone line (it broke my old router too). Thanks, John H. |
You need to set your wireless card to ad-hoc mode or even better master mode (not supported by all device drivers). Check out this blog for clues:
