Angry Cisco Aironet 350 PCMCIA on Mandrake 10.0

I am starting to get frustrated!!!

I have kernel 2.6.3-7, have installed the cisco utilities, and have flashed the card to 4.25.23 firmware.

Status light blinks, activity light blinks more rapidly.

When I ifconfig, i get;

eth1:9 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:07:0E:B9:A8:61
inet addr:127.255.255.255 Bcast:127.255.255.255 Mask:255.0.0.0

When I iwconfig, I get;

when I cardctl ident, I get;

Socket 0:

what do I need to do? Can anyone see any obvious issues??

4 days now, and nothing....

Please help!

Well, that's kind of funny looking. How did you set up the wireless parameters for the card and how did you try to obtain an IP address?

When I insert the card, Mandrake recognizes it, loads module airo_cs.

In the mandrake control center under networking, I go through the steps of adding a new connection->Wireless connection->select eth1->dhcp

Maybe the problem is that I have not configured it correctly! How should I go about doing it?

Is there certain steps that I need to take?

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Mandrake's graphical tools. When I set up my card, I can do it from a console

iwconfig wlan0 key XXXXXXXX
iwconfig wlan0 essid XXXXXXXX
iwconfig mode managed
dhcpcd wlan0

Why don't you try this from a console window making the needed substitutions (like eth1 for wlan0) and dropping any steps you don't need (do you use WEP?). I also think Mandrake uses dhclient instead of dhcpcd so the last command might be

dhclient eth1

Check your progress with iwconfig and post any errors you're getting. From what you've posted so far it looks like your card is configured correctly, it just isn't gettting an IP address. Also, that IP address you have been getting is really kind of funny looking. I don't know that I've seen an individual use a 255.0.0.0 netmask before. Do you have another computer to tell if the router is functioning properly?
