choosing pci wlan card
Hi all,
im going to buy a pci wireless card that will be hosted on an old p200mmx with 80mb ram and some gigs of hd. I dont need 11g and i already own a d-link 604+ wireless router with adsl modem Im asking which of these cards - d-link 510 (802.11b 11mbit, dont know the revision) - d-link 520+ (802.11b+ 22mbit) works best with linux ? If i understood well, the former uses different chips based on revision (so it should be good or bad), while the latter uses acx100 from TI I know i should avoid d-link, but i can get these cards for a very cheap price! Any suggestions? PS Can i found the card revision on the box or should i check the card ? I dont think the shop clerk would let me open it.... EDIT : i've found this page about linux support, it looks it is quite impossible to use 510 (err actually maybe with ndiswrapper) while 520+ i supported by acx100 driver and g520 by madwifi... |
Take a look at the hcl:

looks like nobody tried 510, while 520+ has some reviews (some pos some neg) i'll go for it (it costs 30euro) |
