Cannot set iwconfig attributes on wlan0 yet kismet works
I am using the Auditors Security Collection LIVE Toolkit CD. I have a PRISM2 USB Wireless device. Ashton Digitial WRUB-2011i. I boot the live cd, open a command prompt window and run the following commands.
C) Run 'modprobe prism2_usb prism2_doreset=1' to load the driver into memory. D) Run 'wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_ifstate ifstate=enable' to initialize the driver+MAC functions. I then run iwconfig and see the following wlan0 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID: "" Mode: Auto Frequency: 2.432 GHz Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00 etc... I can run the kismet utility just great, I see lots of access points, I can pick out clients and mac address and everything so I know the device is working. My issue is when I try to lock onto an SSID or Channel using iwconfig. iwconfig wlan0 channel 6 (gives the following error) Error for wireless request "Set Frequency" (8B04) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported I get similar errors when trying to set the ESSID or Mode. I've tried setting it to "Managed" mode and even to "Monitor" mode, all return Operation not supported. Any ideas? |
I'd prefer to stay away from using the NDISWrapper as that will not allow me to run in Monitor mode.
