i am semi new to linux and wireless networking...i travel with my laptop running slackware (current) between my house, my parents house, school, and my girlfriend's house...they all run wireless networks. i have set up kismet to find wireless networks, but i _cannot_ figure out how to connect to them!
i have been googling for hours...can someone please help me? a console method is preferred, as i usually do not run x!
i'm trying to connect with a AIR-PCM340 (cisco aironet)
i was able to connect after installing slackware...during the install i had provided the name of my gf's wifi network, Blitzz. and i've found that, if i come in range of her network (and i can see it on kismet), and i restart the computer, i am online...
however, i have no idea how to connect to other networks!
Do you know if any/all of the networks have some type of security enabled? i.e. WEP, WPA, etc. In particular, find out the status of your gf's network - is it a managed network or a simple ad hoc connection to her computer? Does her network have security? Let us know...
