Cannot Configure BackTrack3 Integrated Wireless or Wireless Key

Could someone please help me setup my BackTrack3 so that I can connect to the internet via Wireless. I know the card I use is compatible with BT3, cause I got it to work once by mistake. I'm slightly new still to Linux, so drivers are giving me a problem. I can't configure it right. As far as networking goes, I'm simply on a WLAN with DSL. No vpn, or anything special like that. Also, if anyone knows how I can keep BT3 from resetting all my settings every time I turn it off, I would greatly appreciate it. It probably has something to do with cache and how BT3 is on a flashdrive. Thank you in advance!

Have you installed BT as an operating system, or as a live CD (on the USB stick). If it was set up as a Live CD, I don't believe it will keep the settings. If it was installed on the USB stick as an install, it should hold any changes you make as it would on a Hard Drive. Also, if you installed it on a USB stick as an install, and then plug it into a different computer with different hardware, you might have problems, especially with wifi.

What wifi chipset do you have? What are the results of ifconfig, iwconfig, iwlist, and lspci.

I've installed BT as an OS on a USB. It's not a Live CD. As for network results, let me check. I would like to get it to run with a Buffalo internet key so that I don't have to reconfigure every time. This will only help though if the OS starts to save settings.

What size USB stick are you using? I don't know about BT 3, but BT 2.6 required 2.3 GB. Post the results of ifconfig, iwconfig, iwlist, and lspci and we'll see if we can't figure it out.
