Can not enable wireless adapter

I just installed kubuntu on my dell inspiron 2200 about 3 days ago so I'm fairly new to this. I can't seem to get my wireless adapter to be enabled. In the network configuration box I see "Wlan0" click on it and click "enable interface" but it immediately disables it. I've already used ndiswrapper to install the correct drivers. I don't know what else my problem could be.

Thanks for your help by the way.

I got it enabled by using "sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter"

but now I can't detect any wireless networks with the KWifiManager
