Can't see any wireless connections - Ubuntu - Virtualbox

When I type iwconfig into the terminal I get this as output:

lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

Only wired connections appear under network settings.

I am using Virtualbox on an iMac with Snow Leopard version 10.6.8.

Any help would be awesome!

I would try to share usb wifi dongle with virtual machine. I think virtal machine won't use your pci card as it runs on virtual hardware.

Virtual Machine cannot use device, which is used by host system and/or isn't exported to Virtual Machine. Yes, it is possible to make PCI card visible and usable on Virtual Machine, but first you need to unregister it in host OS, then you need to export it Virtual Machine. Do not ask me how to do it - I am not Mac expert.
