Can't get wifi card to work with SUSE 9.3

I have a Linksys WPC11 v4 (802.11b) wireless card. Worked fine with XP on my Toshiba Satellite laptop (model 2805, 256k DRAM, 20gig HD, P-III 700MHz). But after switching to SUSE Linux 9.3 Pro, I now can't get the card to work.
As a Linux newbie, I need some "for dummies" type instrux on how to install the card and get it working on SUSE. My intial attempts to configure through YaST failed. (Program wanted to set up as an ethernet device, instead of wireless).
My inquiries to Comcast and Linksys tech support got the polite, but generic "We don't support Linux" messages, along with URLs to some general Linux sites.
In other words . . . HELP.

NDiswrapper. there is a lot of documentation for it. you'll also want to check these:

I'm sure to someone familiar with Linux, these are wonderful links and info.
Unfortunately, this is my first, ever, Linux experience. When my laptop fires up, all I know is it opens to the KDE sort-of-Windows-like desktop.
I basically need a hand-holding, step by step for the especially stupid set of instructions.
Windows, even some Apple OS versions, I'm literate. Linux is a strange new world where I can't understand the street signs.

oh ok!

sorry about that. here is a good walkthrough:
(I know, it's 9.2, but it's been the same for me in 9.3.)
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/p...essional%209.2
follow it step by step, it works.

This link does have steps to fix the error you will probably run into.

Try the walkthrough, and then post back any confusion/problems.

p.s.
you're in utah? I'm in provo, lived in cedar city (for ten years) and woods cross(one year) where you at?

Hi,

I just wanted to say thanks for the great link. I'm a total Linux noob here, but I'm determined to get over the learning curve so I can experience what everyone's raving about :)

Anyways, after a lot of frustration, and a bit of messing around with settings I was finally able to get online with my Linksys WPC54GS 802.11g on my laptop. The only problem now is that it doesn't automatically connect to the network on bootup. All the drivers load correctly and all that good stuff, but I have to go into KInternet-->Wireless connection... and choose the network every time I boot up.

Question is: is there a way to make it connect automatically?

Any help would be great!

Thanks,
Matty-J

Edit: In KInternet when I go to check status, under Default Route it says:
Invalid default route:
Cannot read '/proc/net/rout': Success

Any idears?
