Can't find device? (ifconfig wlan0)

Setting up a wireless card.
# ifconfig wlan0 (no device found)
How do I look to see if my device has a driver to go with it.
The system list Broadcom minicard under system info.
Any help would be appreciated.

The first thing you should do would be to run "ifconfig -a" to list all of the network interfaces your system has detected. If there is nothing listed other than your Ethernet, then you know that there is no driver loaded for the card. I know Broadcom chipsets are a little tricky under Linux, so this seems like a pretty likely scenario.

Which Broadcom Card?

You can use
1. bcm43xx.ko for old ones and b43.ko for new. These are kernel modules, and are sometimes blacklisted. You need a kernel 2.6.27 or later for these. if it's on usb, you also need ssb.ko

2. Broadcom's proprietary driver. ymmv. A Bitch to install

3. ndiswrapper and some windows driver.
