broadcom wireless comes and goes, linux 2.6.35-22-generic (i686)

I can turn the HP-dv9000 on and have wireless thru broadcom internal wireless then next time I turn comp on I only have wired Internet. I have netopia SWL-2300n usb adapter i use as back up but it only works sometimes. I have to keep rebooting the comp 5 or 6 times due to the fact that the usb adapter freezes the comp.

Have you checked your daemon.log?

maybe trying to connect and running
tail -f /var/log/daemon.log in a terminal and see what comes up?

What distribution are you using? Is it one of the new releases ( i.e: ubuntu 11.04)?
Did it used to work?

It has been off and on since I have had the computer. Im running Linux 2.6.35-22-generic (i686)
I ran that command in the terminal yesterday and after I had no connection. It said I had wireless but no pages would load and nothing would download, update etc. So i had to do another fresh install.

Well, glad it is working now. I just thought that running tail -f against your log(s) might give some insight into the why of it all. Any way, hope it keeps working for you!

Hmm, well maybe if you run the command against your logs you will see why its doing this. For example, you might see why your connection drops. Might tell you if its hardware, software, or environment.

Its not the connetion that drops. Its the wireless drivers that dissapear. Sometimes after boot I have wireless and others only wired. I have reinstalled windows 7 and it works perfect off gate every boot. i will just keep in a dual boot and use windows when i need wireless and linux when I need there wonderful tools. jus wish i coulda got it to work cause i hate windows. # monts is enough time wasted on something that should just f***ing work. At least i didnt just bust the comp up like i thought i was gonna do several times.
