Broadcom Wireless adapter firmware not updating in Knoppix 6.0

I am using a Knoppix 6.0 Live CD. I have tried to update the firmware for my Broadcom wireless adapter because there was an error when i tried to use the "pump" and "ifconfig wlan0 up" commands. It gives me an error as follows.
SIOCSIFFLAG : No such file or directory

Then I tried typing dmesg|more to find out what the problem was and I found that my BROADCOM firmware needed to be upgraded. I typed the following to upgrade it.

wget http://bu3sch.de/b43/fwcutter/b43-fwcutter-012.tar.bz2
tar xjf b43-fwcutter-012.tar.bz2
cd b43-fwcutter-012
make

But when I type the "make" command, I get an error saying
bash: make: command not found

What can I do to resolve this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

That simply means `make` is not installed on the system. Alternatively, you could try to find a precompiled version of b43-fwcutter and use that [rather than build the thing yourself].

Thanks... I will try that. Just out of curiousity... Could you tell me how I can get the "make" command to work?

Thanks again for the help.

I have been trying for over an hour to find the precompiled version of b43-fwcutter on the internet, but in vain. Where can I download the precompiled version?

Thanks
