BCM4318 wireless failure upgrading from Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04 (Hardy heron)
hello,
I've just upgraded from Gutsy to Hardy and when the installation ended I've immediately tried to enable the firmware of my bcm4318 trought "restricted drivers" menu item, but... it fails, because " b43-fwcutter 011" tried to access the internet to download a file named < wl_apsta.o >...but obviously no internet connection was active on my system.
So I had to build the firmware manually with fw-cutter, and everything was ok (a directory called "b43" was created into lib/firmware/ ).
now left-clicking on nm-applet over the upper-right panel corner, I can see all the active connections listed (it seems a broadcom geat work...) but...IT's impossible to activate any connection: no ip address assigned, no surfing the internet! what should I do now? I'm thinking about downgrading...
I can see my active connection but I can't connect to it...very frustrating this situation!!
anyone could help me?
