Attempting wireless, broke plug in networking

In attempting to get my SUSE 10.0 distro talking wirelessly and over a dial-up modem I broke all my network connectivity. I wrongheadedly installed Kinternet and Network Manager and maybe some other packages. Now when I even plug in to a network my system hangs and won't launch even unrelated applications. Can anyone give me a clue on how to uninstall / reinstall the packages or troubleshoot this problem?
