AT&T Wireless card and suse 9.1 Issues

HOLA. I am having some problems getting my wireless ATT nic (its the 6500g) to connect to my wireless ATT router (6800g).

I think i have the configuration right ( i am not really linux savvy). I was reading other posts and i got some ideas. Like i said before i think i got my configuration right here is the output of IFUP on my wireless nic

ath0 device: Unknown device 168c:0013 (rev 01)
ath0 configuration: wlan-ath0

Then it goes back to the command promp.

So there is that. Now when i do the iwconfig i get the following

ath0 IEEE 802.11 ESSID:"myssid" Nickname:"linux"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.447GHz Access Point: 00:0D:14:00:8E:B2
Bit Rate:36Mb/s Tx-Powerff Sensitivity=0/3
Retryff RTS thrff Fragment thrff
Encryption key:my key Security modepen
Power Managementff
Link Quality:42/94 Signal level:-53 dBm Noise level:-95 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

From there it all hits the fan, for when i try to ping my router it wont do it, i try to ping my computer in living room, it will not ping. The reason I'm trying to connect to my router is so can go on line on my computer so that way i can run an ftp site (am running one in windows, i don't really like it. Besides i heard and i know that linux ftp more reliable and safer)

Ok that is my dilemma if anyone out there in linuxquestions.org land can help i would really appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

P.S if you need specks let me know i will post.

Broadcom 54g chipset, no? You'll need the Linuxant drivers or the NdisWrapper. If it is a Broadcom, there's another thread about it here:

When the hell did a D-Link adapter come into this? Per the thread title, "AT&T Wireless card and suse 9.1 Issues," we're talking about the AT&T 6500g. So...

Here's _another_ thread that discusses the 6500g and NdisWrapper:

Hola once more folks. OldSchool thank you for the link, but i already seen that post . I tried to install NDISwreapper doesnt seem to work ( Linux Noobie)I dont seem to know the chipset on my wireless card, but accordint to Suse 9.1 its an atheros chipset ( it sets the card as ath0) but when i check my hardware it says it Unknow card but it reads it as a wireless card (weird) . But anyways i managed to install that Linuxant program but when i get to upload the drivers it still says it doesnt recognize the card!!!!. I am willing to buy the program IF it would find my card but it doesnt seem to like my card. In that post i read that it works with NDISwrapper but i would like more help than that i don't know how to install it, and what chipset i have. So if anyone out there can help i would really appreciate it.

Thank you all for you help.

HEY ALL. Guess what. I got my problem fixed!!. I don't know what it was but i did 2 things.

1. I moved the wireless nic to another slot
2. i added the s: prefix to the key (which indicates that it is ASCII) and left the key the same. (this is under the network configuration)

after that i did ifup ath0 ( under SU of course) and it picked up an IP!!!!.
So it turns out my card was recognized my suse 9.1 after all

Well thanks you all for your help. Next step is set up an FTP. Anything you guys would recommend?
