I have a HP/Compaq NX9110 and I was having problems with the built-in wireless. I am running FC4 and here is the lscpi
02:02.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC ( rev 01)
Subsystem: Compaq Computer Corporation: Unknown device 00e5
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 80, IRQ 5
Memory at d0200000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K]
Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 2
I basically have 2 problems. Drivers (where to find?) and The Button to turn it on doesn't seem to activate that cool blue light that indicates the wireless card is activated. I am guessing that this is because of drivers but I am not sure?

I've been running cards with the same chipset on my desktop machine and on two different laptops for several months now. I can't help you with the button issue -- still working out a couple of those myself. As far as drivers, and from my own experience, MadWifi (http://madwifi.org/) is the way to go. Just be sure to read the info on their site, especially the "Newbie HowTo" linked to from the main page. I've actually had less trouble with my cards using MadWifi under Linux than under WinXP using the software/drivers supplied with the card. Go figure...<shrug>
