any alternatives to madwifi for atheros chipsets?

Hey guys,

I just got a new Thinkpad x60s and installed Gentoo linux on it. It has an Atheros chipset wireless card so I installed madwifi on it and am able to connect to my home network. Out of 7 wireless networks I have access to, I can only successfully connect to 3 of them. The most important is my school's wireless network, and I cannot connect to it.

I've asked for support in the IRC channel, mailing list, and opened up a ticket, but no resolution.

I was wondering if it is possible to use the windows drivers through ndiswrapper or something? Anything really, I can't stand not being able to connect to my schools network.

Thanks!
George

I'm going to answer my own question here :P

i got the drivers from:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...cid=MIGR-52527

and then used:
Code:
ndiswrapper -i *.INF
modprobe ndiswrapper
got the wireless up and running on my home network again in no time, now I will try it out at school
