Question Altheros wireless sniffer card in SUSE

Hello,

Does anybody install the altheros wirless card in SUSE Linux to sniffer card?

After I install the SUSE Linux/PCAP0.9.4/TCPDUMP3.9.4, I plug-in the altheros card, how to congiure it to sniffer card?

Use "iwconfig ath0 mode monitor"?

But it seems that 2 bytes is redundant for each captured packet? why?

The length of a packet is 30 bytes but the length of captured packet by altheros card is 32 bytes?

Thank you for any help.

I'm guessing that it adds the wifi frame to the packet.

Try reading the atheros documentation, it provides different way of capturing in sniffer mode, with different types of frames.
