Airsnort under suse 9.1

Hi,

I'm having trouble with the ./configure script for some strange reason! I can't find an rpm ans the (tail end) of the script gives me:

checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking for gtk+-2.0 >= 2.0.0... Package gtk+-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gtk+-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'gtk+-2.0' found

configure: error: Library requirements (gtk+-2.0 >= 2.0.0) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.
linux:/home/tachyon/airsnort-0.2.6 # echo $PKG_CONFIG_PATH
/opt/gnome/lib/pkgconfig

Anyone any ideas? Cheers.

So, do you have gtk+ higher than 2.0.0 installed? The error is telling you that you'll need that package to install Airsnort.

Right, got that sorted. Turns out I needed gtk-devel installed also. Next problem...it doesn't do anything! I'm using the Microsoft MN-520 PCMCIA card which uses a Prism chipset. This starts without any problems under Kismet and shows my wireless network, however when I run airsnort it just sits there and doesn't report anything. I am in monitor mode and YES I have clicked start!!! Any ideas? Thanks.

Are you running it as root?
Does Airsnort see your interface correctly?
Is there anything to snort? That is, if you're in monitor mode and there are no other clients around you won't see much.
