After re-booting my laptop my edimax-ew7711 device not working, using rt3070 driver

I installed a edimax ew-7711 device using rt3070 driver on ubuntu-9.10, my kernel is 2.6.31, it worked fine and was showing up under "iwconfig" as ra0, when i rebooted my computer it was not working i tried installing driver again but it's only showing up as wlan3 and not picking up any AP's, could someone please help me?
When i run backtrack cd and use iwconfig command it comes up as ra0....?
only trouble is my laptop screen is broke and when i use backtrack i can only see half the screen on the monitor and carnt change the resolution.

If there is a monitor-peripheral out use it.
What's the output of iwconfig?

here is the iwconfig read out-wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

Under BT4 it comes up as ra0, wich is what it should be.
I'm going to google your suggestion for the monitor as i don't know what it is.
Thanks for helping, i was thinking of doing a fresh install of ubuntu.

Can you connect an external monitor to the laptop?

akitta 02-10-2010 12:35 PM

yes thats what im using at the moment, it's working for ubuntu and windows but under backtrack i can only see top half of the screen.

It's the edimax device thats troubling me most it's driver installed without errors then as soon as i re-booted laptop next day it was not recognised under iwconfig

if anyone else is having same problem all you need to do is blacklist the the other rt drivers ie- rt2870sta,rt2870usb,rt2x00, it loads more drivers than it needs and they conflict with each other, still carnt get backtrack to fit my monitor, even trying to change screen resolution from terminal but it doesnt work, i getting a new dell soon as this one is no good, itīs done itīs job thow ....
