i think because that was the very first network device you installed on that machine... I previouly had two network (pcmcia) cards installed in my laptops that were eth0, therefore when i replaced them with the wlan card they simply took the network cards place. Sorry for the confusion good to hear you got it working.

do they work well?

No, I prevously had a wireless PCI Adapter card with a PCMCIA Gold Orinoco card
plugged in a PC and it was identified by Fedora1 and installed as eth0, static IP connection.

I'm back.
I installed ndiswrapper on a Dell Inspiron8600/Intel pro2100 wireless/XP drivers
that work in XP on this same laptop/ Fedora1 and I get these ndiswrapper errors,in dmesg. Can anyone tell me what it means.

ndiswrapper version 0.4 loaded
ndiswrapper: error log: C000138A, length: 2 (00000000)
ndiswrapper: error log: C000138D, length: 2 (00000000)
ndiswrapper: error log: C000138D, length: 2 (00000000)
ndiswrapper: Driver init returned error

might help .. i am a ndiswrapper newbie i couldnt get the source working or ndis wrapper under 9.2 ... switched to fedora.

Well I finally got ndiswrapper working on my Dell Inspiron8600/Intel PRO2100 wireless.
But as usal it setup as wlano on Fedora1.
From what I have read on Google, alot of people using the Pro2100 card can't set it
up in Linux, Intel is supposly working on Linux drivers.
