ACX100 TI chipset WIFI card 2.6.14 Kernel, downgrade kernel?
OK, if i have the wrong formum, and i suspect i do, i'm sorry. the reason i'm putting this in here is because its primerally a Network Card issue..
I have a PCMCIA WiFi Nic, and FC4, I went back to running XP due to pressure from the Wife, and have come back from the land of the undead and reloaded FC4 onto the PC. I ran YUM and got all the updates (1.7Gb ouch) and as part of that upgrade, i was updated to Kernel 2.6.14-1.1653_FC4. Everything is running fine, until i went to install the WiFi card. On my previous FC3 and FC4 installs i have used the instructions at http://www.houseofcraig.net/acx100_howto.php and they have woked swimmingly, no problems whatsoever.. Yesterday i go to the website, and see.. Quote:

So i have searched the net for ACX100 2.6.14, and Fedoraforums.com came up with a work around script, which appears to need a heck of a lot of work.. So my questions are... 1) Is there a way round this problem where i don't need a degree in Bash scripting..? And probably more useful 2) Can i DOWNGRADE my kernel on FC4? I notice i have a previous release of the kernel aready, i figured that maybe going back to 2.6.13 might be better? Can i do this? can i do it with yum? is it easy? (Easy as in not staying up till 3am recovering the system easy) As ususal any help comes with eternal gratitude from both me, and my Wife, who will never again darken my doors with talk of Windows (after 1month of usage it was takeing 15minutes and 25 seconds from power on to a usable state.. and people have the cheek to say Linux isn't ready for the desktop...!!) |
Went back to the 2.11 kernel... working fine
