Exclamation Activating/enabling wifi on Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A1650g

Hello,

I've got Fedora Core 5 and the laptop in the subject. I've installed madwifi driver and it finds my Atheros 5005g integrated card as AR5212. Checking modprobe gives me ath_pci, wlan and ath_hal.
To me it seems that the problem is the device itself. Even if I set the wireless device to start on boot from BIOS, the led still won't when booting to FC5. The problem is that this laptop has only programmed buttons to activate the device. In windows the Fn keys work fine and i can switch on my wireless but in Fedora they're not working. There's also three buttons next to the power button which also works only with a specific driver.
Is there a possibility to get the wireless to work? Otherwise there's no point for FC5 on my laptop

Code:
 ifconfig
ath0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

What happens
Code:
iwlist ath0 scan
?

It looks like that interface is okay and that you are not connected to access point.

I have the same problem, but I have got stuck a bit further. You have to specify option rfkill=0 when loading kernel module:

modprobe ath_pci rfkill=0

This will turn wireless radio on. Than you will be able to scan you wireless neigborhood. Unfortunelly, i have no luck to associate any access point
