2 wireless cards in 1 laptop

I read in a Motorola walkie-talkie manual that you should not bring two walkie-talkies to close together while in use because that would detune them.

Does anybody know if this is the case for wireless NICs?

I would like to put two Cisco pcmcia CB21AGs into a laptop. One would be used in a passive mode for packet sniffing and would not be used to xmit the other would be connected to the network Tx and Rxing normally.

Has anybody had experience with a dual pcmcia wireless card setup?

Yes, I do this very same thing on occasion, it works fine, sometimes I have 3 wireless devices in one of my laptops, 2 CardBus and 1 usb, with one sniffing, one connected to my router and one connected ad-hoc to another machine that is streaming video from it's tv card via udp.

IMO, the card that is going to "sniff" should not be auto-configured by hotplug or otherwise, just let the sniffing application set it up, and be sure to tell the app which card to sniff with.
