XEN on debian hangs my machine

I've been trying to get XEN working on my dell poweredge 2600 with debian squeeze.
The problem is that after a short while after booting the xen/hypervisor kernel the system freezes. Also this only happens with the xen/hypervisor kernel.
The error varies at times, but it's always some kind of disk I/O error that is thrown out to the console. I've have checked the disk, I even swap it out to no avail.

I'm hopping that you folks can help me.

Have you made sure that the disk firmware, the BIOS, and any firmware for a hardware RAID card you may have are up to date?

Have you had any luck googling that specific disk error? What version of XEN are you running? Is it the version from the repositories? Take a look a this http://old-list-archives.xen.org/arc.../msg01372.html

Are you running any special things like PCI passthrough, or Raw disk access?
