/boot is within sda1 as it's the rootfs.

Ok, thanks for the tips, I'll check that soon.

Although the grub method is working I'm looking for an automatic method.
I can create a minimal Slack which boots, runs lilo and halt, but I wonder for a "simpler" method.

I "installpkg -root" the Slackware packages in the .img.
And I would like to write the bootloader to start the image without having to do any manual operation.

I failed to find how to do this.

So I used an alternate method :

-copy a lilo.conf + fstab into the disk image

I created a custom slax live-cd with a rc.local doing :
-mount the disk image root partition
-chroot into it
-run lilo
-halt

So i just boot the live cd after the installation, using qemu, the disk image, and the -nographic option.
