Convenience, mostly. Not having to shut down, which on my music rig causes my projects to take a long time to open. I usually just put windows to sleep, then the projects open 10X faster. I clear the cache regularly with Wise Cleaner. Also, downloading things I need for my music, like orchestral libraries, plugins, portals etc. Downloading in Linux doesn't work very well. It's quite a process to be able to install them in windows after downloading in Linux.
Somewhat true. You're on the right track.
Keep messing with it until you find what you desire.
I wont criticize. Keep with it. You'll be fine.Is it super easy ? NO. Ever make a knife from a piece of pickup truck leaf spring and a chunk of walnut ? It's easy....once YOU do it.
Won't Windows 10 work with what you need, as oppose to Windows 7?
I have Windows 10 installed on a separate partition. I've been using it that way for years, and years, without any problems; virus or otherwise.
Most of the fear you read about it is just FUD anyway. Come Thursday I'll have Windows 11 installed next.
Sure, Windows 10 would work. I'm just one of those "Luddites" who resents his personal data being manipulated and sold. I may be swimming against the current, but as long as I'm alive I will keep on swimming upstream. Keeps me young.
What does FUD mean?
So, there's going to be a Windows 11? I must really be out of the loop!

Not really - it's only been a rumour for the past month, and "accidentally" confirmed/leaked in the past week. Official announcement is expected to be tomorrow.

A related question: If you have Windows 7 as host, and it is offline, can your Linux guest be online? If that was possible, that would solve the issue for me. I suspect it's not possible, but could I be wrong?
Yes, with a USB ethernet adapter if you look at my previous posts. VirtualBox guests and hosts can not share a USB device so it will be dedicated to the linux guest. You can configure the device to be always attached to the guest.
If you need to copy data from one to the other you can install guest additions and setup a shared folder. Basically samba without a network.
