Which edition (desktop edition or Server edition) best for Oracle RAC on vm
Hi,
Lately our company is planning to use Oracle RAC for some internal application, and for save cost we'd like to implement the DB server as a linux box running on vmware host. But which ubuntu edition is best for that..
Distribution: Gentoo, RHEL (Fedora, CentOS, OEL), Ubuntu, FreeBSD, Solaris 10

Ubuntu is not supported by oracle. I doubt that you will lucky with the clusterware installation. You may try CentOS but it really has a small problem. During install 11gR2, an error said that AOCFS is not supported in CentOS...something like that! Issue solution read here But I recommend you that you use Oracle Enterprise Linux. It's free and you may buy support from Oracle. Or you may buy RHEL.
