Anyone used the VMWare vsphere solution? I was looking into that, but also wanted to look into my own HA solution. Just wondering if anyone had some opinions on that.
What I am looking at is providing a HA virtual environment. Currently I have separate servers each doing their own task. I have 3 buildings total all connected with fiber. I want to be able to ultimately provide a stack of HA virtual boxes in 2 different locations so I have some serious HA. So basically each location can provide its own HA, but at the same time if I lose a connection to a building then that building can function on it own until I get the connection back up. Vsphere is beyond our budget with the economy and all right now since we are a small private school.
Have you considered RHEV? You can get a free 60 day evaluation at http://www.redhat.com/breakfree/ and the costs are much lower than vsphere, with the HA functionality built into the product and not tiered
