Vmware server unable to sign in to infrastructure web access
 
I installed vmware server 2 with the 2.6.26 kernel patch and ran vmware-config.pl and told it to use root but I can't sign in as root, it always says bad user/password.
I see a lot of similar issues searching the internet but with windows hosts and not linux. Running on slackware 13.

I had a bad PAM package, use a prebuilt one. Downloaded the source and compiled it myself
