VMware - Fedora Core 10 - Unable to connect to Internet
Hi All
I use Windows7 on my laptop. I have got the following version of VMware Server installed on it.
**VMware Infrastructure Web Access Version 2.0.0 Build 122589**
**VMware Server Version 2.0.0 Build 122956**
I am running Fedora Core 10 on VMware, but Fedora is not able to connect to the Internet. However, when I try to ping www.google.com, it works fine. However, if I try to open www.google.com in mozilla-firefox, it gets stuck at "Connecting to www.google.com" and then finally times out. Similarly, yum also gets stuck.
Please help me in resolving this issue. Thanks a lot in advance.
Thanks a lot Yas for looking into the problem. I finally got it fixed by following the instructions at http://florianlr.wordpress.com/2009/07/09/5/ . The problem is with Windows7 and VMware and not with Linux.
@John - If you do not know the solution, then why do you not keep your mouth shut? You keep singing the same song everywhere time and again. For your satisfaction, I would let you know that I had installed Fedora13 as well today, but it did not help me and turned out to be a sheer wastage of my time as the problem was something different. I double-posted because I was not sure if it was a Windows+VMware problem or a Linux-routing problem. Moreover, you can see for yourself that I could not get a solution in the Linux-Routing-And-Networking forum, whereas I got the solution in the VMware forum from Yas.

As much as you're frustrated, understand that John is a senior member at LQ with loads of experience - double posting is taken very seriously where the mods may even have merged the two posts into one or deleted one altogether. Around Fedora 10, the distro is EOL with no support from Fedora; the problem is that being an older distro, it will leave your machine open to a number of threats - John's merely trying to save you a lot of trouble
