Virtualizing Win7 RC1 on Kubuntu/Vista dual boot machine?
I have a copy of Windows 7 RC1 that I have been considering taking a look at, but don't have a machine to dedicate to it. This machine is a Core 2 duo with 4gb and plenty of available HD space. Could I create a virtual machine here and try out 7? Right now it dual boots Kubuntu 9.04 and Vista using Grub.

check that you have VT availabel and enabled - if you already loaded the kvm module - you're good to go, if not - check /proc/cpuinfo for the right flags and the bios for VT-enable option
win7 runs fine on KVM-qemu machines |

On my Ubuntu 9.04 I used KVM to install Win 7. Runs great and I've had no problems. I am in the process of migrating to where I just have one large 1.5T drive with Ubuntu on it and use KVM to host all of my other guest operating systems I use (Vista, XP, Win7). I don't even dual boot any longer. Just boot directly to Ubuntu and then start a Windows VM if I need it running. |
