virtualbox lost settings after update

hi guys, newbie here
running ubuntu server and im trying to update with apt-get upgrade but im guessing its updating virtualbox and this is losing all the settings.
i run config from phpvirtual box which after the update didnt even give a login box?
Tried vboxmanage list but it didnt even list any of my virtual machines.

Restored it from back up and it was all running fine again but still need to do the updates.

Looks like other peeps have had probs with vbox updates too.
Any help is apreciated!
