VirtualBox console USB connection disabled after booting up on CentOS

Hello,

I have VirtualBox 5.2.10 installed on a physical machine and a few guests that consist of Debian Jessie and CentOS 7.4.1708.

When CentOS boots up, after a few minutes, the following logs show up and the console connection no longer responds.

Code:
ohci-pci 0000:00:06.0: frame counter not updating; disabled
ohci-pci 0000:00:06.0: HC died; cleaning up
usb 1-1: USB disconnect, device number 2
usb 1-2: USB disconnect, device number 3
usb 1-1 is the VirtualBox keyboard and usb 1-2 is the VirtualBox mouse.

This does not happen on Debian.

Is there a way to prevent the system from disabling these devices?

Thank you.

Been here for a bit so I will guess maybe.

My guess is the ohci. The two sentences above show it stopping. I'd assume this is an older AMD board maybe?

Did you insert the guest additions?

Hi jefro,

Thank you for your reply.
I did not have a guest additions installed, so I installed it, but I get the same thing.

My motherboard is ASUS Sabertooth Z170S.
I recently updated BIOS to patch up the Meltdown/Spectra vulnerabilities.
I also updated VirtualBox version from 5.1 to 5.2, so I am not sure which one is affecting this issue.

Is it possible that you have some usb attached or connected at boot time? One report suggests the issue is part of a usb passthrough problem.
