Virtual-box 5.0.4 not starting correctly in Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.3 64-bit

Hey all.

As it is first time, I try install a virtual drive, I tried the suggested Oracle Virtualbox.

It installed OK, but when I started it, I got this message:
--

Kunne ikke åbne en session til den virtuelle maskine MS7.

The virtual machine 'MS7' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1).

Retur kode: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Komponent: MachineWrap
Kort: IMachine {f30138d4-e5ea-4b3a-8858-a059de4c93fd}

--
It is Virtualbox 5.0.4 for Linux Mint.
Kernel: 4.6.5 - downloaded from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

I have been looking for answers/solutions, but found nothing working.

sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup - does not work, because I have no vboxdrv file.

Any suggestions?

Regards

After I have checked two times, the visualization in my BIOS are now ON, but the problem remains...

The message now is:
--
The virtual machine 'MS7' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1).

Retur kode:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Komponent: MachineWrap

--

exact same message.

As very alternative solution, I decided to upgrade to Mint 18 today. It partly succeded...
Now I cannot use USB 2 or 3 because lack of extenskion pack.
It is version 5.0.24 Ubuntu.... of Virtualbox.
I need a "extension pack" and info about how to install that.

Implementation of the USB 3.0 controller not found!
Because the USB 3.0 controller state is part of the saved VM state, the VM cannot be started. To fix this problem, either install the 'Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack' or disable USB 3.0 support in the VM settings (VERR_NOT_FOUND).

I installed Linux Mint 18 again, this time a fresh install (except that /home remains intact)
It did the trick regarding making the Virtualbox working

What I need now, that the Win 7 in the Virtualbox get access to my NAS. It is a Synology and the SAMBA work fine on the NAS.

How to setup Virtualbox 5.1 (directly from Oracle) and Mint 18, so I get access to the NAS?

Regards

After testing the result is this: I got the Virtualbox fully working regarding installing of Win 7, and internet working.

But: The internet are painfully slow- how to fix that? The Windows update did not seems to work even after more than 10 hours waiting?!

I can't get access to my Synology server from the Win 7, the NAS has a SAMBA server running.

Any suggestions?

Well - the solution is this:

Reinstall Linux Mint 17.3 64-bit Cinnamon and with kernel 3.19 (yes I know - the kernel are not supported any more, but installing a 4.4 or newer kernel makes the Virtualbox not working!)

If the is any way I can use any supported kernel with the Virtualbox, please let me know.

Now I can: Normal speed internet, view my NAS, and even the driver for my GPU are now correct . HIT
What is still not functional: USB. I can't view flash drives through the Virtualbox. MISS.

Thanks all for info.

Just because kernel 4.4 won't work doesn't mean that 4.5 or 4.6 won't work. Each kernel is a different beast when installing Vbox.
