vBox usb guitar board driver install fails

Relocating and restarting what was
"guitar bundleware don't connect to net"
Reason: wrong title and wrong forum

Host: vBox-6.1 on Suse Tumbleweed
Guest: Windows-7
Hardware: Roland Boss Me-80 usb guitar effects board

I finally managed to install the extension
pack as well. Ran into a file-browser problem
posted in another article.

The host system picks up the usb-hardware
without a problem and even uses it in
Pulse device listings as 'Me-80 sink'.

While the bundleware now connects to the net
it cannot load the manufacturers driver update
via the "Me-80 Driver Download" button possibly
because the lack of driver prevents it interrogating
the unit and then requesting the correct URL
(just a wild guess).

Boss-Me-80 is checked in the vBox Manager
USB settings window

As I start the installer in the guest w7
it gets to a point where it asks to connect
the device and turn it on. As I turn it on
and before I get a chance to even look at
the screen to click 'Next' I hear a beep
and a popup says 'driver installations failed'
and the driver install driver dialog 'next'
button is or remains ghosted.

That's as far as I got

The presence of the device in the Pulse Audio
volume controller gave it away. I went back to
the VB Manager window into USB settings for
a /better/ look and saw that the default was
to enable USB-1. Couldn't believe it, changed
to USB-2 and everything came together at once.
