user permissions virtualbox 3.0.10 on slackware 13

Hi!
I've just upgraded my slackware distribution from 12.1-->13.0 and my Virtualbox installation to 3.0.10. Before the upgrade i had no problem to connect usb devices to my win-xp installation on the Virtualbox (printers, scanners, digitalcamera). After the upgrade I still can see the devices but cannot connect them. If i start Virtualbox as root everything works.

The user i member of group vboxusers, plugdev and the scanner works fine in slackware with xsane. My problem is the camera which is a canon eos 50 and I would like to use the canon software for it.

any ideas?

I only have ideas unfortunately.

(1) You are a member of vboxusers and plugdev. I think the other groups to be a member of in 12.1 was larger (I'm not on my home machine right now so can't check and don't remember). You probably need to duplicate the membership you were in for 12.1.

(2) I can't remember if one installs Vbox as a user or as root. Root, as I recall. Did you install as a "mortal" user?

Hope that helps as a start.

Hi

I installed vbox as root and my /etc/group file is identical

Can't think of any think else. I'm planning on upgrading to 3.0.10 soon myself (though still on 12.1): if I find something out I'll let you know... You have rebooted I'm sure, since the install of Vbox so that the new kernel module is loaded...
