Unable to install 64 Bit RHEL6


I had Lenovo Laptop in it Vmware 8.1 whenever i try to install the 64 Bit OS...error comes...

My Lenovo had 64 Bit window 7 ,4gb ram ,core i5 2nd gen

Virtual Machine 8.01 verses Lenovo Model Z570

This Virtual Machine is configured for 64-bit guest os.However 64,bit operation is not possible .

long-mode is disabled for this Virtual Mode

Continue without 64-Bit support

If Selecting Yes

This kernel Requires an X86-64 CPU ,But Only detected an i686 CPU.Unable to Boot -Please Use a Kernel appropriate to Your CPU

The error is suggesting that you use 32-bit Red Hat (i686) in your virtual machine.

It coiud be that you need to enable the hardware virtualisation features of your processor in BIOS. Virtualbox required hardware virtualisation to be present for 64 bit guests and some machines do not have it enabled by default.

If you need to enable hardware virtualisation you will need to go into the BIOS and enable it there. I have no idea what the BIOS setup looks like on your laptop though, but it looks like you get into it by pressing F2 as the computer is powering on.
