udev not creating device file for usb passthrough printer

Hello,

I am trying to set up a print server using cups on a kvm virtual machine running debian jessie 8.3. I use virt-manager to pass along the usb attached printer(hp p1606dn) to the vm. I was expecting a device file to be created like /dev/lp0 but I don not see one. I need this that file for the "DEVICEURI=" line in the printer definition file for cups.

Here is the dmesg output:
Code:

Welcome to LinuxQuestions

cups talks to USB printers directly so it isn't necessary to create a device ID anymore. Your printer requires a driver plugin which is installed via hplip. Running hp-setup will automatically configure your printer.
