Set up a virtual network

Hello Friends,

I'm using openSUSE 11.1 and I'm trying to find a way to restrict the bandwidth. And I have to do this via Iproute2/Iptables.How do I should simulate my network with VMWare? In fact I want to use one of one machines as a router and send packets from one machine to another via this router. and which software is suitable to do this?

Any help ps greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

You can create virtual networks with VMWare and install a firewall/router that has a network card in all the virtual networks you create. I did this once with success. If you also have a network switch with VLAN capabilites, you can also create virtual VMWare networks that are associated with a given VLAN. This is more difficult to get working.

I use pfsense as firewall. This has QoS capabilities to control your network and also works on vmware server.
