Thumbs up Recommendation please for Load balancing - Server failover

Hi guys, I'm new to the Virtualisation are so would like to pick your brains a s to the "best" solution for the following:

A server farm will span 10 servers which can be of any configuration of your choice. The website itself is written in PHP and uses MySQL as a backend. The content is mostly text with a large amount of concurrent downloads.

Please describe how you would arrange this server farm and how you would handle the following issues :

- Load balancing
- Server failover
- Security
- Performance
- Backups

This sounds VERY MUCH like a verbatim homework question. If not, why don't you provide details...things like what version/distro of Linux you're using, version of PHP, MySQL, and how many clients are connecting to it. Also your other thread here (http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ue-4175477311/), sounds very much like a homework question too.
