Question on client creation

Hi folks,

Host - Fedora 12 64 bit
KVM
AMD 64 Phenom II X4 955
VM - debian-503-amd64

I'm prepared running following command to install VM
Code:
virt-install --connect qemu:///system -n vm10 -r 512 --vcpus=2 -f ~/vm10.qcow2 -s 12 -c ~/debian-503-amd64-netinst.iso --vnc --noautoconsole --os-type linux --os-variant debianlenny --accelerate --network=bridge:br0 --hvm
Shall I use: --vcpus=2

OR
--vcpus=4
???

This is a quadcore box. TIA

B.R.

AMD Phenom II X4 is a quadcore CPU. Shall I assign the VM vcpus=4? What will be the difference in function between 2 and 4?

I have 8G RAM onboard.

Thanks

if the VM is running software that will benefit from extra cores, you should give it as many cores as you can afford.
If not - there's no point really.

actually, this question has nothing to do with virtualization - just think of what kind of PC, with how many cores you would buy for the setup that you're virtualising
