Problems using virtual terminals with multiple distros
I'm running three virtual distros in order to get the best studying experience for my Linux+ cert.
My Ubuntu VM is running fine.
My OpenSUSE and Fedora VMs both have the same problem accessing the virtual terminals. Whenever I Ctrl-Alt-Fx to switch, I would get a message about Grub not being able to find the English localization file. After fixing that problem, now all I get is:
GRUB loading.
Welcome to GRUB!
and an unblinking cursor.
I'm unable to use any virtual terminal.
I've been searching for a couple days and haven't found anything helpful yet, besides the help with the localization files for Grub.
I'm running OpenSUSE 12.2 and Fedora 17 on VMWare Workstation 9 installed on a Windows 7 machine.
CPU: Intel Xeon Dual core 2.4 GHz
RAM: 4 GB DDR3
HDDS: 1TB RAID 5
Any ideas what's wrong or how to fix the problem? TIA!
Update:
The virtual terminals work if I'm in runlevel 3. If I switch to runlevel 3 then switch back to 5, it goes back to the GRUB message without virtual terminal access.
