Problem installing Virtual Box 3.1.4 in SLackware 12.1

Excuse me, i have problem since a week ago about installing VirtualBox in Slackware 12.1 machine. When running VirtualBox installer for all distribution, i found like this:

Quote:

root@darkstar:/home/acmal/tool/vbox#
./VirtualBox-3.1.4-57640-Linux_x86.run\?e\=1270787641\&h\=06260d1a92a23882ba0aa1af24e8c0cd
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing VirtualBox for Linux installation.........
VirtualBox Version 3.1.4 r57640 (2010-02-12T19:32:16Z) installer
root@darkstar:/home/acmal/tool/vbox# Removing previous installation of
VirtualBox 3.1.6 r59338 from /opt/VirtualBox
./install.sh: line 285: ./uninstall.sh: No such file or directory

root@darkstar:/home/acmal/tool/vbox#
I have checked to line 285 of the installer and i found this:

Quote:
echo "Copying to a temporary location..." >&2
I am confused why that line is caused the error.

I try to get fresh install of slackware 12.1 to another machine, then running same installer of VirtualBox, and it's success. What happen with my first SLackware machine?

Thanks before for helping

You might want to take a look at the lines before and after 285 by a little bit for a line containing "uninstall.sh" that is where the problem is occuring and it also tells you what the problem is -- "./uninstall.sh: no such file or directory." The uninstaller of previous version doesn't exist where it expects it.

thanks for replay mr. rweaver

"uninstall" word closest to line 285 is in line 558.

Is VirtualBox installer need previous installation to install a fresh one? How if we never installed it before?

Thanks before

Solved !

I try to re-download it. I downloaded using wget and the installer have the file name like this:

Quote:
VirtualBox-3.1.4-57640-Linux_x86.run?e=1271001757&h=8246a5d5b5a54338d41b6e18f7187b6b
But the problem still occur. Then i rename it into:

Quote:
VirtualBox-3.1.4-57640-Linux_x86.run
then install, and it's works !!!!

Thanks for the attention
