Paravirtualization vs Fully virtualization - Xen or Hypervisor?
I'm trying to understand what's the difference between paravirtualization and fully virtualization.
1 - As I understand, Paravirtualization means that you have a Paravirtualized OS (OS that has been modified) that runs over a Virtualization layer. In a Fully Virtualization, you have a Guest OS (unmodified OS) that works over a VMM. If you have several Guest OSes installed, in a paravirtualization, you need several Virtualization layers, where each one is for one installed Guest OS? In a fully virtualization, the same VMM is used for all Guest OS? |
A paravirtualised guest is one that is aware that it's running in a virtual machine, a fully virtualised guest is not aware. There is no difference in the way they are handled as virtual machines.
