Network driver for Hyper-V not loading

I have a fresh install of Debian 6 on a Microsoft Hyper-V server.
I compiled and installed a 3.4.6 kernel with Hyper-V drivers enabled.
All the drivers are loading, but the hv_netvsc is not loading.
When I do lsmod | grep hv, I can see the other modules have loaded except for hv_netvsc.
I did a test just to see if the other drivers were working properly (hv_storvsc) and added a SCSI controller and attached a SCSI drive and it showed up.
I would like to use a regular network adapter instead of the legacy network adapter.
Anyone else run in to this?? Thanks.
