Moving an RHL 2.4.2 guest
 

ETA: I found my issue. I needed to build an initrd, put it into the lilo config file and run /sbin/lilo to get it to boot.

I'm extremely stuck and I hope someone could help out. I've been tasked to move a Red Hat Linux 7.1 guest machine from a VMWare Server host (IDE drive config) to an ESXi server (SCSI drive config).

I've booted from an ubuntu 12.04.2 server rescue cd and edited /etc/lilo.conf to boot from the sda drive and sda1 partition and ran '/sbin/lilo -v -v' to commit the changes. When I boot, it still panics and says it cannot mount the root system. I am sure I have the drive letter and numbers correct. /etc/modules.conf has the correct buslogic scsi host adapter listed.

What else am I missing to get this thing booted?
